Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Dimerization Process Operator for our client to operate and monitor our dimerization unit, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable production of chemical intermediates. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with dimerization processes and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Unit Operation : Operate and monitor dimerization unit equipment (e.g., reactors, pumps, heat exchangers) using distributed control systems (DCS) to maintain optimal process conditions (temperature, pressure, flow).
Process Monitoring : Regularly inspect and record process parameters, identifying and troubleshooting deviations to ensure product quality and prevent operational disruptions.
Safety Compliance : Adhere to OSHA, Process Safety Management (PSM), and company safety protocols, performing lockout/tagout, hazard assessments, and wearing appropriate PPE during operations.
Maintenance Coordination : Assist maintenance teams with routine and emergency repairs, including catalyst handling and equipment isolation, to minimize downtime.
Quality Control : Collect samples for laboratory analysis and adjust process parameters to meet product specifications, ensuring compliance with API and ISO 9001 standards.
Shift Handover : Communicate operational status, issues, and maintenance needs clearly during shift changes, maintaining accurate logs and reports.
Emergency Response : Respond to process upsets or emergencies, following established procedures to mitigate risks and restore safe operations.
Qualifications
Education : High school diploma or GED; Associate’s degree or technical certification in Process Technology or related field preferred.
Experience : Minimum of 3 years as a Process Operator in a petrochemical or chemical plant, with at least 1 year of hands-on experience operating a dimerization unit.
Technical Skills :
Proficiency in operating DCS or PLC systems for process control.
Knowledge of dimerization chemistry, catalyst management, and reactor operations.
Familiarity with process sampling and basic analytical techniques (e.g., pH, viscosity).
Certifications : Process Operator certification (e.g., NCCER) or NDT Level I/II (e.g., VT, UT) is a plus.
Soft Skills : Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team and independently under pressure.
Physical Requirements : Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and perform shift work, including nights and weekends, in an industrial environment.
