What will you be doing in this role: The Senior Cisco Network Engineer performs a broad variety of technical engineering support, design, and architecture for: Participates in the evaluation of new applications for the Health System, determines their effect on the existing network and systems infrastructure and perimeter; recommends and may oversee any necessary operational or security enhancements. Coordinates contracted network penetrations to validate security infrastructure and implement remediation recommendations. Works jointly with user project managers and other IT groups to successfully implement projects. Helps manage contractors and consultants performing security and network related projects. Participates or collaborates in policy creation, performs periodic security reviews of existing information systems, and assists in the requirements and solution definition process for new Client portal information systems. Participates in the design, implementation, maintenance, and modification of perimeter and network security devices and/or systems. Responsible for reviewing requirements, developing network standards, and securing Client portal Data Networks infrastructure including but not limited to the Network Perimeter, Remotes Access, Main Campus, WAN, leased or owned spaces, Data Center, wired and wireless environments. Key responsibility for the identification and resolution of hardware and software technical problems related to networks. Promotes governance and compliance with security standards, policies, procedures, and maintains the Health Systems network security infrastructure with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, process, and reliability. Develops standards, policies, and procedures, and collaborates with contractors and vendors to ensure network integrity and security. Acts as a mentor, works independently on network designs, and guides implementation teams. Performs maintenance and upgrades of networks, monitors network connectivity, and provides technical support for LAN/MAN/WAN/Security/Wireless and cloud networks. Manages day-to-day issues and maintains SLAs. Participates in the evaluation of new applications, determines their impact, and recommends security enhancements. Coordinates security testing and implements remediation. Collaborates on project implementation and policy creation. Designs, maintains, and modifies security devices and systems. Reviews requirements, develops standards, and secures network infrastructure. Identifies and resolves hardware/software network problems. Ensures governance and compliance with security standards, maintaining network security infrastructure. Qualifications Experience Requirements: 5+ years as a Network Engineer in a complex multi-platform environment, preferably healthcare. Experience with Cisco networks with over 15,000 nodes. Strategic experience in network and security technologies, vulnerability testing, and threat mitigation. Expertise in network monitoring, analysis, management, configuration tools, and server/system monitoring tools. Packet-level traffic analysis skills. Strong project management and interpersonal skills. Expertise in LAN/WAN operation, routing, topology, QoS, protocols, and MetroEthernet. Deep knowledge of MPLS, NAC, VPN, remote access, security devices, firewalls, IDS/IPS, NAT/PAT, authentication, Radius/LDAP/TACACS, wireless.
