The Doors & Hardware Technician is responsible to complete all training in use of ladders and power tools. Tech will need to assist with work orders and commercial and residential door and hardware installs. Technicians need to be able to exercise good judgement and be able to work independently. Essential Functions and Responsibilities include reporting to work at the required time and performing duties as assigned by Access Control Supervisor; being familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures with doors and hardware; following instructions from the Access Control Supervisor regarding the installation of doors and hardware; completing all assigned work; installing more technical advanced door hardware products; using hand and power tools applicable to trade; reading, understanding, following, and enforcing safety procedures; promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices; being detail oriented; identifying and communicating problems or defects to the Access Control Supervisor; working closely with the Access Control Supervisor to ensure project deadlines are met, materials are ordered on time and inspecting final tasks/projects; performing other duties as assigned; troubleshooting and repairing door hardware; reading and using a measuring tape, level and other required tools for installation; providing quality customer services; tracking labor hours and materials as required for each installation; completing work orders and/or doors and hardware install on projects; attending all training to learn new technology of door hardware, and Wi-Fi and installation methods as required; following all safety policies and procedures and ensuring proper safety equipment is used when needed; working effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, being detail oriented, possessing strong organizational skills and well-developed communications skills, effective communication both verbally and in writing, ability to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems of both routine and complex nature, excellent organizational skills, regularly lifting 50+ pounds, proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required. Certifications obtained while employed by Liberty University at the expense of the employer will be reimbursed back to the University upon voluntary termination (resignation) for the first 12 months after acquiring it.
