Key Responsibilities:
- Online Systemic Therapy: Provide high-quality individual, couple, and family therapy services utilizing a systemic/relational framework through secure, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing.
- Clinical Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical records that reflect a systemic perspective, adhering to HIPAA regulations, state licensing board standards, and ethical guidelines.
- Ethical Practice: Uphold the highest ethical standards as defined by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) Code of Ethics, along with all applicable state and federal laws governing LMFT practice and data privacy.
- Client Communication: Effectively manage client communications, including scheduling, responding to inquiries, and clearly articulating your therapeutic approach, fees, and practice policies from a relational standpoint.
- Direct Fee Management: Establish your professional fees and manage the billing and payment process directly with your clients.
Requirements:
- Education: Master's or Doctoral Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), or an equivalent program meeting the educational requirements for LMFT licensure in your state(s).
- Licensure: Must possess a current, active, and unrestricted license to practice Marriage and Family Therapy independently (LMFT) in at least one US state. You are responsible for understanding and complying with all telehealth laws and regulations in the state(s) where you hold a license and where your clients are located.
- Experience: Proven post-licensure clinical experience providing therapy to individuals, couples, and families, with demonstrated application of systemic theories and interventions.
- Telehealth Proficiency: Competency in using HIPAA-compliant telehealth platforms and secure communication methods. Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) or practice management systems is advantageous.
- Legal & Ethical Knowledge: Solid understanding of HIPAA, state-specific laws and regulations affecting LMFTs and telehealth, and the AAMFT Code of Ethics.
- Professional Liability Insurance: Must maintain active professional liability (malpractice) insurance coverage appropriate for an LMFT.
- Skills:
- Strong systemic thinking and relational assessment/intervention skills.
- Excellent therapeutic rapport-building skills with individuals, couples, and families.
- Clear verbal and written communication abilities.
- High level of empathy, cultural humility, and professionalism.
- Effective organizational skills and reliability.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in MFT and telehealth.
Conditions of Collaboration:
- Status: Independent Contractor (1099).
