The Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC) is responsible for detecting, protecting, and responding to threats that affect Microsoft's products and services. We are looking for a motivated Security Researcher to join our team. As part of MSRC, our team V&M(Vulnerabilities and Mitigations) is responsible for analyzing vulnerabilities found in Microsoft's products and services to determine their root cause, severity, and security impact. This analysis plays a critical role in shaping the security updates that are deployed to customers. The knowledge that we gain from analyzing vulnerabilities also informs the offensive and defensive security research performed by our team. As part of this research, our team works collaboratively with many teams across Microsoft to investigate, develop, and deploy security features that help discover and mitigate the biggest threats to customers. This role is crucial for the success of a new sub team in MSRC V&M -Exploit Research Team. The Exploit Research team will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including analyzing exploits, writing detections to identify active exploits, and enhancing the capabilities of our services and products by developing and promoting exploit mitigations to prevent underlying threats. In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day. **Other : Embody our** Culture ( **and** Values ( **Responsibilities** **Required Qualifications** + 5+ years experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cybersecurity, and/or anomaly detection OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field. + 5+ years experience in identifying vulnerable patterns in C and/or C++ code and secure coding practices. + A deep understanding of exploit mitigations (DEP, ASLR, CFG, CET etc.), bypasses and defenses. + 2+ years experience in reverse engineering/reading and analyzing assembly (x86,x64, Arm, Arm64) + Proficiency in developing tools and automations for discovering and detecting exploits. **Additional Qualifications** + 6+ years experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cybersecurity, and/or anomaly detection OR Doctorate in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field + A proven track record of one or more of - vulnerability research & discovery, threat & exploit analysis or creating signatures and detections. + Ability to communicate and advise on security design and implementation for complex security challenges. Security Research IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
